Fusion Student Workers Conference 2011

The student team took a mini road trip down to Birmingham for the Fusion student workers conference. The trip included; James Brown’s erratic driving (much prayer needed), a stop at McDonalds (other fast food eatery’s are available) and, an awesome time meeting other student workers from all over the country – hearing their stories and testimonies from the past year.

Pete Greig spoke on the Friday evening about hope. He explained how hope was a defiant expectancy of what will be and gave the example of Simeon in Luke 2:25-35. He explained how Simeon was promised by God that he would meet Jesus before he died and lived in defiant expectancy for that day. Simeon was led by the spirit to the temple courts where Mary and Joseph had just taken the baby Jesus. Therefore we can take on that encouragement, that, whatever God has promised us for the next academic year; the big dreams and the visions, we can live in hope that God can make them happen for us. By opening our eyes and listening to God we can be led to make those promises become reality.

We all had an awesome time and made some great connections. Praising God, that by his grace (and not James’ driving), we returned safely to Sheffield.
