Identity 2 – Deception and Distractions

The fact is, most of us Christians know our identity lies in what Jesus did on the cross and in the love God shows every day. Living it, however, is a very different thing. Following God is ever so easy in his house, but come Monday morning and whatever our weeks bring us; we all too often forget God and go solo. As explained before, the best way is God’s way, but all too often we become convinced we know best and do things the way we want to, and therein lies the nature of human sin. Ultimately; God’s way leads to joy and ultimate fulfilment. The wages of sin is death and our pursuit of such desires will always be fruitless, leaving us wanting. But why, if we know all of this, do we fall short so consistently? Continue reading

Christian Communication – ensuring unity within our community

We, as Christians, interact with each other and with non-Christians on a daily basis. We communicate through speaking, a vocalised form of interaction consisting of words that we understand as language. Nothing new there, then. But for me, our choice of language – which words we choose to use or not to use – represents only part of the communication process (along with body language). Communication is as much about our ability to relate to one another through the delivery of language as it is about the content of that language. In other words, it involves what we say, but perhaps more importantly, the way that we say it.

This post is not intended to outline the characteristics of speech (I leave that to those that know far more than I do about the subject). Rather, it is intended to challenge us all, myself included, to consider our personal ability to relate to one another as Christians and to those non-Christians in which we seek to inspire faith. Christian synergy is a subject in which I take a particular personal interest and I wish to make it clear from the outset that I believe that those within the church could communicate more effectively than they currently do – a view that often frustrates me. I am not a theology student, but I want simply to share my own thoughts and reflections on the subject with you all, derived from my own study of the Bible, reading and prayer.

You Are Beautiful/Handsome ;)

Hey guys :) These are my edited notes from the event Woman to Woman  I attended way back in first year. Hope you’re blessed!

The world has an ideal for the perfect woman: stunningly beautiful, feminine,  domestic, confident, sexy but not slutty, independent, dependable, successful, etc.

It also has an ideal for the perfect man: toned, muscular, smart, charming etc.

However, these are all unobtainable. No woman or man can be that perfect.

If you, as a person, focus too much on this ideal, your focus shifts off everything (Colossians 3:2), especially when God has a plan for you.

We’ve all heard the saying that goes something like this:

Natural beauty radiates from the inside as well as the outside“.

Beauty is only skin deep, but who are we? Proverbs 31:10a  says:

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain” (KJV)

Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades” (The Message)

What is our IDENTITY?

Identity is who we are to the very core of us: our values, beliefs, personality, character…

What is our IMAGE?

Image is the visual picture we have of ourselves and what we present to the world.

At this point, you, the reader, should weigh the truths and lies about yourself.

Take these points below and read them out to yourself, slowly and carefully or out loud. Repeat them over and over to yourself.

Look at your pretty/handsome face in the mirror each morning and tell yourself: “I AM BEAUTIFUL/HANDSOME“.

  • I am the only person who embodies my looks, character…
  • I am the only me.
  • I am not a duplicate.
  • I am intricately and perfectly designed by God.
  • There’s nothing God doesn’t know about me.
  • As I grow, He is revealing to me who I am.
  • I am are never ever going to come to the end of knowing who you am because I am constantly being molded like clay on God’s pottery wheel.
  • God wants me to live freely knowing that I are beautifully, wonderfully and fearfully made by Him (Psalm 139:14).
  • He made me as an individual and knows me as an individual.
  • God has created me to be MEE!!!
