Truth for the week
quote for the week
Jesus is buried
A soldier stands guard
And a rock is rolled into place
But it’s Friday
It is only Friday

truth for the week
This week we focused on the gospel of John in the Holy Week Meditations.
This weekend focuses on the amazing events which took place 2,000 years ago centering around Jesus, God with flesh on, who saved us from death, fear and sin and brought us into a new restored relationship with God. Normally there’s just one truth for the week but because it’s the Easter weekend so we’ll treat you to three.
- It is Finished – the last words Jesus spoke out, it was mission accomplished. Sin had been nailed to the cross, Jesus had replaced us in the verdict we deserved and took all that could be thrown at him. Yet because Jesus did this we can say ‘it is finished’ to all the things that are getting us down today.
- There has been a resurrection – yes it is Easter Saturday, we’ve just had the bleakness of Maunday Thursday and Good Friday but it’s worth remembering today and all days that there’s been a resurrection. Jesus didn’t stay dead and because of that we don’t have to either.
- Jesus is Victorious – if the Easter weekend says anything it’s this: death doesn’t have the last word anymore, Jesus does. Jesus is victorious, he’s already won. Yet we still live in the battle zone somewhere between the decisive victory and the true end of war, the good news is we’re on the winning side.

We’re doing a 40 Day Bible Challenge as a Student Church to engage more with the Bible and the daily podcasts we do here as a church at STC Sheffield.
There isn’t a Foundations Daily podcast today, but there are loads of other great resources out there. Since it’s the Easter Weekend check out this Youtube video that Judah Smith did on Barrabas and Jesus.
