Last weekend there were some exciting stories from student church. One new community kicked off, it’s called Active and it’s all about inviting friends to go on park run on a Saturday morning and then going for breakfast together. Central cluster started a new outreach, it involves beer, board games and a load of their friends, both christian and not.
Here’s two testimonies from Holly Phipps & Rob Swain who lead Active and Lewis Pressley who leads Central.
Active || Park run & Breakfast
Last week was the official launch of Active Cluster. These last few weeks have been so exciting in getting it off the ground and seeing others grasp the vision. Last Friday we had our first midweek meeting where we all came together to eat, study the bible and pray for each other and all those coming to parkrun on Saturday morning. It was a great evening to come together as a group and unite in our hopes and prayers for evangelism through sport in Sheffield.
The following Saturday morning was incredible as our community gathered together to do parkrun. God really provided with our highest ever turnout from our group of over 20! The best thing about it was the mixture of Christians from all kinds of churches and non-Christians alike, all coming together to support each other in running.
We’ve recently started praying in small groups on the start line and have had a really accepting response from others in the group. It’s just been such a joy to see God provide, bless and put everything in place for Active to really kick off as a missional community at STC!
Central || Beer & Boardgames
Last Friday we had our first Beer and Board games night at Central cluster. Having been in the pipeline for a while, for it to finally come around was a bit of a daunting prospect. With a number of regular students away, I didn’t expect to see 20 students turn up on the night.
We had 6 students come who’ve never been to any church event before, which was just fantastic to see. We played a few classic board games and chatted about life. There was a real buzz in the room! A couple of the new students were really eager to get involved with STC and start their journey with God.
After weeks of prayer and hoping our first outreach project would be a success, God really delivered. Our next Beer and Board games will be in the new academic year, where we can’t wait to fill the house again and create a platform for loads of new students to come to know God.
